Stimulus Check

The 2009 Stimulus Package has given hope to millions of Americans. With the state of the economy and more jobs being lost everyday, American citizens find comfort in the thought of receiving a stimulus check. There are several points in the bill could lead to everyone receiving a stimulus check, especially those receiving unemployment benefits.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, also known as the Stimulus Bill or Stimulus Package, contains many features relating to unemployment benefits.

People receiving unemployment benefits this year will take in as much $2,400 through stimulus checks. These stimulus checks may be taxable in some states so it is a good idea to plan ahead for your 2010 tax filing.

The stimulus package will also add an extended period for the stimulus checks. Stimulus checks will be sent for an extra 20 weeks by way of normal unemployment benefits. Persons living in high unemployment states, as determined by the government, will receive 13 extra stimulus checks. Check your local unemployment office to find out if you are living in a high unemployment state.

What many consider to be the biggest act of assistance is the provision that gives unemployed beneficiaries an extra $25 per week in the unemployment stimulus checks. Twenty-five dollars may not seem like much, but the unemployed will be happy to take anything they can get. Besides, $25 a week will add up over time. The 2009 stimulus package and stimulus checks may not fix the over complicated issues in the economy but, the persons receiving the stimulus checks are very much in need.
