Obama Stimulus - 2 Million Jobs Saved

On the one year anniversary of the signing of the Recovery Act, President Barack Obama reports that at least 2 million jobs have been saved and another great depression has been thwarted.  Millions of Americans can have kept their jobs due to to funds created from the Obama stimulus plan.

President Obama said that the $787 billion Recovery Act is working great.  “It is one of the main reasons the economy has gone from shrinking by six percent to growing by about six percent.  And this morning we learned that manufacturing production posted a strong gain.  So far, the Recovery Act is responsible for the jobs of about two million Americans who would otherwise be unemployed,” said President Obama.

The President does however take note that with the unemployment rate at 9.7%, many americans are still struggling to see the benefits of the Obama Stimulus.  President Obama realizes that there are millions Americans still without jobs.  He understands that many are having trouble seeing the Obama stimulus as an act of  economic recovery and vows to keep working to turn the economy around for the United States.

Republican lawmakers, who have voted against President Obama’s economic recovery efforts, believe that the Obama stimulus plan has cost too much, created too much debt and has not shown the results promised at the outset.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell states that the Obama stimulus has been plagued with fraud and abuse.  Others say that the stimulus plan is a complete failure.

President Obama admits that government dollars alone are not enough to bring the economy back to health.  He says that the sole intent of the Recovery Act was to give businesses a boost and a way to help them keep hiring in these uncertain times.

Despite his critics, President Obama holds his position in saying that the stimulus has achieved its intended results.  He says that there has never been a program of this size put into action as fast and effectively as the Obama stimulus plan.

With reform needed in many areas, the Recovery Act is the only priority that President Obama has signed into law.
